Hi, I'm Matt McWilliam. I'm an amateur photographer based in Las Vegas. Photography has been a creative outlet for me for years. It started as a way to capture memories on hikes and trips, but over time it's grown into something more meaningful.

Whether I'm walking a local trail, exploring the Nevada desert, or just spending an afternoon around town, I usually have a camera with me. I love the way photography forces you to slow down and notice the details you might otherwise miss.

This site is a place to share my favorite images, tell a few stories, and hopefully inspire others to get out and explore with their own cameras.

Photo Collections

This section is where I showcase my favorite photos. I shoot a wide range of subjects, but I'm especially drawn to landscapes, nature, urban scenes, and astrophotography. Some of my photos come from dedicated outings, while others are captured on everyday walks and spontaneous trips. I don't claim to be an expert, this is about learning and enjoying the process.

Each collection includes a little background on what I was seeing, thinking, or experimenting with when I took the shot. Sometimes it's about the light, sometimes the mood, sometimes a happy accident.

I believe the best photos often come when you're just out in the world with an open mind and a camera in your hand. I hope these galleries encourage you to do the same.

When I'm not out shooting photos, you'll often find me filming for my YouTube channel: @MattMcWilliam.

I post videos of hikes, travel, and personal adventures around Las Vegas and beyond. It's a way to share more of the experience behind the photos, the locations, the light, and the moments you can't always capture in a still image.

The channel is a mix of trail hiking, walks, local explorations, gear talk, truck maintenance and personal reflections. If you enjoy photography, hiking, or just seeing new places, I'd love for you to subscribe and follow along.

Behind the Shot

Photography is as much about process as it is about the final image. In this section, I share some of what I've learned along the way, the gear I'm using, techniques I've tried, and the editing tools that help bring out the best in a photo.

I'm not a professional photographer or an equipment snob. I shoot with what I have and aim to get better with every outing. Sometimes that means testing a new camera setting, sometimes it means figuring out how to work with challenging light or weather, and sometimes it's about learning from my mistakes.

If you're just getting into photography or looking to improve, you might find a few useful tips here. And if you're more experienced, feel free to reach out and share your own insights. I'm always learning.
